About Pacific Rim Martial Arts Academy

Pacific Rim Martial Arts Academy was founded in 1970.

It is the oldest non-sport martial arts program in the Portland Metropolitan Area. It has the reputation of offering the best and most complete martial arts environment in the Northwest.

Five distinct, yet complimentary training programs are offered:

Hapkido – Employing a broad variety of integrated techniques, it is the most complete self-defense form. It is the leading non-sport martial art in Korea.

Aikido – The Japanese form of non-violent self-defense. Aikido training focuses on the creation of harmony and brotherhood. To study Aikido is a creative journey of personal growth.

Jujitsu – Instrumental in the development of Judo, Sosuishiryu Jujitsu’s locks, throws, weapon usage, and other techniques have been developed over a span of nearly 350 years.

Judo – Primarily a throwing and grabbing art, it has been an Olympic sport since 1964. Students have the option to participate in tournaments; however, the training emphasizes the heritage and foundation Judo has provided to all martial arts.

Tae Kwon Do – The most practiced martial art in the world.  At Pacific Rim, the pure form of Tae Kwon Do is taught. An Olympic sport, it is taught at Pacific Rim with the quality of the student in mind, not merely for sport or physical activity.

The Pacific Rim Junior Program is rated the best Junior Program and a model to follow in the Portland Metropolitan Area.

Internationally recognized, it has been featured in several newspapers and magazines, both locally and nationally, and, along with the adult program, on many local television and radio programs.
